*** SaDist and SLUGS rides are intended for experienced riders capable of maintaining the posted speed for the listed distance, over hilly terrain, often without stops for stretches of 25-30 miles. Riders' equipment should be in good condition; riders should be capable of reading and following maps/cues, handling their own roadside repairs, able to change a puncture within a reasonable time, should bring their own spares and tools, food, water, and money for stops. Being considerate of these points makes the ride enjoyable for all involved.

Moscow-LaGrange Ride - Again

10/22/05

9:00am

Downtown Moscow Tn

M

A-C

50+- Miles

Sixty riders enjoyed this one in the spring so we’ve decided it should go again in the fall.  It starts in downtown Moscow, TN and goes through Williston, LaGrange and back to Moscow.  The route goes through mostly rural Fayette County, which is quite beautiful in the fall, even when the only fall color is brown.  The route has been modified to go through the Ames Plantation (now owned by the University of Tennessee) and is a little over 50 miles.

This is a good ride for those who started riding during the past spring or summer and are ready to try their first distance ride.

Date:  Saturday, October 22, 2005

Start location:  Downtown Moscow, TN.

Start time:  9:00 AM

Rider Level:  A to C,  Terrain:  M – H (mostly flat, some hills)

DIRECTIONS: Moscow TN is @ 40 miles from the intersection of I-240 and the Nonconnah Speedway, er…, uh…, I mean Expressway. From the Nonconnah take the Byhalia Road Exit. Turn Left on South Byhalia Rd, TN 175, then a quick turn Right (east) on Hway 57-72 (Poplar Ave.). Go 16.5 miles to Charleston Street. Turn left and start looking for bicycles. Note: Don’t blink or you’ll miss it.

Admit it, you love having the crap scared out of you...you ride a bike don't you? Meet in the parking lot of the visitors center about 1/2 mile south of the Pyramid. We take a ride thru Shelby County and some "rustic" neighborhoods where you'll swear you wouldn't want to be after dark! Be prepared for ghouls, goblins and things that go bump (or in some cases, bang!) in the night!

**Please be courteous to people visiting the center. Park your car in the faar east part of the  lot across the drive from the visitors' center.

For those on the long ride you'll have the opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving again, southern style, with a stop for bar-b-q at the infamous Gilt Edge Cafe in Gilt Edge Tn.
