Aggressive Dogs
Author Last Post
What has worked for me eveytime is to squirt them with my water bottle. However, if they suddenly appear there probably would be little time to get the bottle and not have problems controlling the bike. I used to ride some routes with people that were more familiar with the local dogs and they would warn me ahead of time of the "regulars" that are attracted to cyclists. If I see them in enough time then I try to out run them and laugh, at least so far I've gotten to laugh. Just another hazard to negotiate.
I don't know if anyone saw John Nelson's LifeCycle question in the CA, but hea asked what strategies everyone has for aggressive dogs. I did the poker ride earlier this year and someone had a whistle that stopped three dogs dead in their tracks. Does anyone know anything about the whistle? Was it a normal whistle or some specialty whistle? All I know is I've never seen anything work that well before.
