Le Ride Documentary
Le Ride is about the first English speaking team to ride, in what many believe is the toughest sporting event on earth, The Tour de France.
In 1928 a small under-resourced and untested team from New Zealand and Australia lined up in Paris next to Europe’s best riders. Racing as a team of 4 against teams of 10, many considered the Australasian’s entry a joke, with one French journalist calling it “nothing short of murder”. 168 riders started the more than 3,500 mile race that year … only 41 finished!
Well known television personality Phil Keoghan decided to bring this remarkable story back to life, retracing the exact route while sticking to the same schedule … 150 miles a day, completely circumnavigating France while riding an original 1928 steel bicycle with no gears, marginal brakes and weighing twice as much as a modern racing bike.
