Memphis Hightailers Join Forces with Shelby Farms BMX to Boost Local Cycling

Tulio J Bertorini | Published on 2/25/2026

MEMPHIS, TN — The Memphis Hightailers Bicycle Club has officially joined as a sponsor for the Shelby Farms BMX track, cementing a powerful alliance aimed at growing the sport of cycling across the Mid-South.

As one of the region's largest cycling advocacy organizations, the Hightailers’ sponsorship provides critical support for the 100% volunteer-run Shelby Farms BMX facility. This partnership arrives as the track launches a major 2025–2026 fundraising drive to "take the track to the next level," with goals including infrastructure upgrades and enhanced youth programming.

Building a Better Track

The sponsorship funds will directly assist with the track's ongoing maintenance and safety needs. Key projects for the upcoming season include:

  • Infrastructure Improvements: Supporting goals like repainting fences, facility upkeep, and potential asphalt work for turns.
  • Youth Development: Strengthening the pathway for young riders, including those in the Memphis Hightailers Youth Cycling Team, to explore BMX as a competitive or recreational outlet.
  • Community Events: Enhancing the experience for "Local Race" days, which occur frequently throughout the 2026 season.

Get Involved

The Shelby Farms BMX track, located at 6435 Walnut Grove Road, remains open to riders of all ages—from "strider" classes for toddlers to expert-level adult competition. Newcomers are encouraged to attend practice sessions on Thursday evenings to learn the basics in a low-pressure environment.
