Paved Trails

For the past 20 years the Memphis Area has seen a huge increase in paved bicycle/walking trails.   These trails are a great introduction to locals to experience riding.

Below is a listing of all the local paved riding trails in or around the Memphis Area. Sorted by total mileage with the most mileage being listed 1st. Try them all.

Paved Trail Rules

Paved Trails are used by different types of users, including walkers, roller bladers, runners, and cyclists. To be safe, it is very important that we all play nicely and follow the rules.

Speed

It is essential to check your speed at all times and consider the comfort of others.  You never know what is around the bend.   Some local paved trails have recommended speed limits that range between 10 and 15 mph.  Please check the posted speed limits or slow as you approach other users.

Passing

If you are a cyclist, it is important to pass on the left. You should also notify those you are passing that you are passing them. You can do this by calling out “On your left” or ringing a bell.

Taking a Break or Mechanical

If you need to stop, please hop off the trail where it is safe to do so. This will allow other users to pass you safely and not have you watching over your shoulder for traffic.

Be Alert

Pay attention to your surroundings.  Refrain from using headphones/earbuds. Before passing, be sure to scan to make sure no one else is attempting to pass.

Yield

Cyclists and rollerbladers need to yield to pedestrians.
