The 31st Annual Dragonfly Sprint Triathlon will be Saturday, August 29 2020, in Sardis, Miss. Presented by P.R. Event Management, the event begins at 8 a.m. on the sandy white beach at Cypress Point on the Lower Lake at Sardis Reservoir. The triathlon includes a 1/2 -mile swim with a sandy beach entrance and exit, an 18-mile bike course through beautiful flat pastoral country and a 4-mile run along portions of a shady woodland trail. Sardis Lake is located approximately 50 miles south of Memphis, just off Highway 55 South between Como and Batesville. Early registration is $65.00. Price increases to $75 after July 12,2020. Relay Teams are encouraged to enter. Cost for relay teams is $35 per relay participant. Register at pr-eventmanagement.net. Proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Batesville, MS. All participants will receive a custom designed tee-shirt and finishers will receive a custom-designed die-cast medal. A post-race party of refreshments including watermelon, vegan and vegetarian options will be served in the pavilion at the race site. Award winners in each category will receive handcrafted pottery platters and bowls created by local artist Miranda Bavier, an art teacher for Shelby County Schools. Awards will be presented from 9:30-11 a.m. at the post-race party in the pavilion. The event venue offers participants and their families an opportunity to swim, picnic, boat and explore numerous public day use areas on the lake at John W. Kyle State Park and nearby Holly Springs National Forest.
