Glad you signed up with Bikejournal! Their forums can be pretty helpful also, and they do not generally develop into flame-fests, if you know what I mean. I am planning to come to the MS 150 training ride in Aug, and hopefully my friend will also come.
I signed up for bikejournal, but have not started logging my ride info yet. I hope that both you and your friend will join our group for the MS150. Your friend probably thinks that Team Hightailer is a racing team. Please assure him that there are lots of first timers on the team and that we are group riders--not a race team. If y'all do join our team you fundraising totals will roll up into our group total---and that will help Team Hightailer reach our $35,000 goal. Barry
Yes, I'm signed up to do the MS 150. I haven't signed up with the MHBC team because I'm training with a friend who is a relative newbie, and didn't want to sign with a team. I'm going to try to get him to come to one of the MS 150 training rides and maybe he'll change his mind. I'm also planning to do the Fall Color Century with MHBC which will be my first century. I'm hoping to become more active in MHBC rides, but I have a regular Sat AM conflict, and have not been able to make any of the other regular rides. I have found Bikejournal to be very motivating, and at least one other MHBC member logs his miles there.
Howard, this is pretty neat! Are you training for the MS150?
I thought since the new website is up and running, I would like to mention a place where some MHBC members log their bike miles. The site is www.bikejournal.com. The site is available free (registration required), or you can pay an annual fee and have some additional enhancements. I have found this to be great motivational tool. Sometimes I might not feel like riding, but I still want to be able to post some miles for the day, so I'll at least get in a short ride. The site also has a forum which often has useful info. MHBC is already set up as a club within bikejournal too. You can see the site at the web address above, or if you want to see an example, you can check my profile in the site: http://www.bikejournal.com/profiles.asp?rname=y2kdad99&public=1 .
